The Polynesian navigators

Kia ora guys,

Welcome to my blog today I will telling what the Polynesian navigators used to find there way to an island or islands. Here are some facts of what they used to get to an island. The used Birds, clouds,Stars. Those are some of the things that they did use for finding an island.

Here is my work that I have done about The Polynesian navigators.

THE POLYNESIAN NAVIGATORS

How did they Navigate? The Polynesian way finders navigated the pacific ocean using the sun and Moon and also the stars. The reason why the Polynesians use navigation is because they needed a way to find where they were headed.

The Polynesian navigators used the Southern cross to show the way to the south.

Usually seen as four or five stars, it is in fact made up of thousands of stars. The North star was used by the Polynesian navigators as a fixed point to find.

The Polynesian navigators used the clouds to reflect the Lagoons and Islands. Every time they saw a Bunch of clouds in one spot then they knew an Island was closed by. They also found plants in the ocean from an island which let them know that they were close to an island.

The Polynesian navigators used the Birds to see where the island was because the birds can only 190 km so they knew that there was an island Not too far away and decided to go there. The Birds only fly about 190 km out from an island.

That was My work all about Polynesian navigators.

Hope you enjoyed all of my work that I have done about The Polynesian navigators. Hope you guys have learnt some things about The Polynesian navigators.
