Discussion:

How do you taste food? The food Taste pretty nice.

What are the Different tastes? Pickle, Chips and Lollies.

What Are the different taste buds on your tongue? Sour and sweet.

I learnt That if you Eat with your nose block then unblock it can affect your tasting.

   

Edible slime

Aim:

I want to find out how to make edible slime.

Method:

Equipment:

• Marshmallows 
• Ice Block stick 
• Icing sugar
• paper cup
• Microwave
• vegetable oil 

Instructions:

1. get the Equipment 
2. Melt your marshmallows in a bowl/Cup
3. add icing sugar
4. mix icing sugar and marshmallows together 
5. wait 10 min for it to cool down 
6. mix in more icing sugar with your hands add oil if needed
7. put in for 20 secs

It felt so hard and sticky it was really smooth when I added Icing sugar my slime was ductile (Stretch into long thin lines) 

How to Light a Bunsen Burner

I want to find out how to Safely use a Bunsen burner

Instructions:

• Get Equipment 
• Safety glasses on
• Put a Heat proof mat under the Bunsen burner before turning it at ALL TIMES
• Connect the hose to the gas tap
• Turn the collar clockwise to close the Air Hole
• Slightly light the match or lighter over the gas but do not turn on the gas tap before you light it

Bacteria around our school

Aim:     

I want to find out what type of bacteria are around our school.

Method:

Equipment: 

• Cue tips cotton Bud
• Agar plates
• Marker pen
• Cellotape

Instructions

1. Get your Equipment.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Use your marker pen to write your name and the location on the lid.
4. Wet the cue tip and swab the surface.
5. Gently swab the agar plate.
6. Tape around the edges of the agar plate.
7. put the agar plate in an incubator over night.
8. Observe the plate the next day.

Turn milk into plasitc

Aim: I want to find out how to run milk into plastic

Method: 

Equipment:

1. Milk
2. Microwave 
3. Vinegar
4. Paper towels
5. spoon
6. Mug
7. Messing spoon
8. Pot

Instruction

• get all the equipment needed for this experiment 
• put one cup of milk in the pot or microwave
• heat the milk in the microwave or stove until it steams 
• add 4 teaspoons of vinegar 
• add the milk into the cup with the vinegar 
• stir the mixture with a spoon 
• stack 4 layers of paper towels on a surface that is safe to dump the mixture on
• scoop out the curds with out the water onto the 4 layers of paper towels
• fold the paper towels down on top of the curds and press down   
• colour, Shape and mold the dough ad like 
• put all you creations on paper towels and let them dry overnight

Skittle-colours

 Aim:

I want to find out what happens when you put skittles in water.

Method:

Equipment

• Petri dish
• Skittle
• Warm Water 
• Small beaker

Instructions

1. Get your equipment.
2. Spread out the skittles around the Edge.
3. Gentally pour the warm water into the middle of the pertri dish.
4. Observer what happens.

Why did the colour leave the skittles?

 Skittles have coatings made out of food colouring and sugar so when water touches colour they spread apart just like skittles do in warm water. when water touches skittles is causes a reaction and make it resolve from the skittle

Why did the colours not mix?

Because the water has a stratification that causes for a reaction

Hands on Fire

 Aim: 

I want to find out how to set my hands on fire while being safe at all times.

Method:

Equipment

• Large Container of water
• Detergent (Liquid Soap)
• Hose
• Gas
• Lighter
• Safety glasses

Instructions 

1. Collect all the Equipment 
2. Fill the container with water 2 centre meters deep 
3. Tip a lot of the liquid soap in the container with water
4. Gently mix it around 
5. Grab the hose
6. Connect the hose to the gas tap
7. Make sure to turn on the gas plug
8. Turn on the gas and bubble it into the container with water
9. Roll up your sleeves past your elbows
10. take offs your jacket
11. Wet your hands up to your elbows with water
12. Use both hands to gab the bubbles only
13. When with bubbles in your hands take to steps forward
14. Stay away from the container of bubbles when getting your hands on fire or else it will make a big explosion
15. Light the bubbles
16. To get rid of the fire High 10 the teacher

Results

I Heard the gas burning in front of me

I saw big flames Burning in my hands

I felt the burning flames starting to heat up 

I smelt gas going in the air

Safety in the Lab

 Rules

1. You must follow the instructions given by the teacher.
2. You must not enter the lab with out permission.
3.  Report any breakages.
4. Shoes must be worn at all times when in the lab.
5. Do not eat or drink in the lab.
6. If you spill something let the teacher know.
7. Wash your hands after doing experiments.
8. A heatproof mat should always be used when heating.
9. If in doubt, ask the teacher
10. Never taste or smell chemicals.

1. Liquids do not go into the bins because it will all spill out when cleaning the bins.
2. Solids do not go down the skin because it can turn out bad.
3. Wear safety glasses when doing experiments because any chemical can explode in your face.
4. put your chair under your desk and stand at the bench when you do experiments because someone can trip over it head first to the ground.
5. bags do not go on the desk because it can catch on fire really fast.
6. Long hair should be tied back because your hair can be caught on fire or something worst can happen.
7. do not smell chemicals because you can get sick.
8. walk dont run around the lab because you can slip.
9. Do not eat or drink in the lab because on your hands you will have chemicals that you cant see and when you eat stuff the chemical will be in your stomach.

Aim:

I want to walk in a straight line with no senses.

Hypothesis:

I predict that I will walk in a straight line.I predict that I will fall over.

Method:

Equipment 

• Bucket 
• Blindfold
• Cotton wool

Instructions:

1. Using your Blind Fold cover your eyes
2. Put your Cotton wool in your ears
3. Put your Bucket over your head so no wind touches your face
4. Spin three times in a circle
5. Get your partner to line you up in the Direction that the pole is
6. Begin walking in a straight line

Safety:

• Stop  walking when you hear the wistell
• If your partner taps your back then Immediately stop!
• Do not walk into objects,People.

NO CHEATING 

Results:

• I was walking in circles 
• I almost walk into the pole
• It was so hard to hear staff and people talking to you 

Conclusion

It was impossible to work out which way to go.

Not seeing made me more fearful.
